Artist - Sue Freeborough
My brief was to work with the pupils using my own methods and experiences used to create my work for the Catalyst exhibition 'Messenger' held at the Havant Arts Centre and the Mountbatten Gallery.
As a sculptor, we worked three dimensionally, influenced by a selection of tactile materials, learning how to construct with polystyrene, plaster of paris, paper, beads and wire.
The limbic system is the centre of emotions, of basic primitive and visceral responses that are transferred to the frontal cortex for understanding. Our finished objects reflected our responses to texture, colour, form and balance at a very basic and abstract level. We thoroughly enjoyed the development and realisation of the process, producing some very interesting and colourful results.
