CATALYST Workshops

The body project was hosted by PCC Library Services as part of Science week 2005. The Arts Council of England South East and PCC Library Services granted partnership funding for the event. In addition the B.A. Science Week provided a number of exhibits relating to the human body. The exhibits had interactive qualities and also gave the children a visual experience as to where major organs of the human body are found within their own bodies.
 
The children made life size cardboard cut out of themselves. They then made drawings of individual organs placing on the body and layered them appropriately over each other. Some children worked on the skeletal part of the body, shaping the hands and feet which were articulated by using rivets and pulley systems. They each learnt a number of new skills together with a clearer understanding of the human body.
